Course Overview:

Our Islamic Studies Course offers students a comprehensive foundation to understand Islam as a religion and a civilization. The course is divided into two parts, covering various aspects of Islamic beliefs, rituals, practices, and their manifestation in Muslim societies.

Part 1: Understanding Islamic Beliefs and Practices

In this section, we delve into the fundamentals of Islamic monotheism and explore its comparison with the concept of monotheism in general. We then analyze major themes in the Quran, including the concept of God (Allah), humanity, free will, evil, prophets (including major biblical prophets), and religious diversity. Additionally, we examine how these beliefs are embodied in Islamic rituals and practice, known as shari’a.

Part 2: Exploring Islamic Civilization

The second part of the course focuses on how Islamic beliefs have influenced and shaped Muslim societies in social and political contexts, giving rise to Islamic civilization. We explore the manifestation of religious ideas in various aspects of Muslim society, including its impact on social structures, political systems, and cultural practices.

• Quranic Studies: Study and analysis of selected Surahs (chapters) from the Quran
• Seerat (Biography) of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W)
• Introduction to Sunnah: Understanding the teachings and practices of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W)
• Selected Hadith: Study and analysis of relevant hadiths (sayings) of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W)
• Islamic Jurisprudence: Exploring the principles and application of Islamic law (fiqh)
• Islamic Culture & Civilization: Examining the rich cultural heritage and contributions of Islamic civilization
• Islamic History: Tracing the historical developments and events in the Islamic world
• Social System of Islam: Understanding the social structures and norms prescribed by Islam
